opensolaris firefox

to install newest firefox ( for today 3.6.3) on openSolaris here the steps.

1. move existing firefox for backup

mv /usr/lib/firefox /usr/lib/firefox-old

2. download latest firefox for openSolaris. you can use below link for 3.6.3 version. please check for newest version

wget http://3347-mozilla.voxcdn.com/pub/mozilla.org/firefox/releases/3.6.3/contrib/solaris_tarball/firefox-3.6.3.en-US.opensolaris-i386.tar.bz2

3. extract it

bzip2 -d firefox-3.6.3.en-US.opensolaris-i386.tar.bz2

tar -xf firefox-3.6.3.en-US.opensolaris-i386.tar

4. move it to use.

mv firefox/ /usr/lib/

have a nice day.

opensolaris ntfs mount

1.step : download packages to /tmp

cd /tmp

wget http://www.belenix.org/binfiles/FSWfsmisc.tar.gz

wget http://www.belenix.org/binfiles/FSWpart.tar.gz

2.step : extracting

gunzip -c FSWpart.tar.gz | tar xf -

gunzip -c FSWfsmisc.tar.gz | tar xf -

3.step : after that you can install them like below

sudo pkgadd -d . FSWpart

sudo pkgadd -d . FSWfsmisc

4.step : you have to see your ntfs partition is which slice on disk?

use format or rmformat to see that.

5.step : mount phase

mount -F ntfs /dev/dsk/c6t0d0p0 /mnt

that's all..
